Baby Reads

The idea behind Baby Reads began as a conversation that evolved into a solution.  I was speaking with a fellow professor whose two-year-old was just beginning to explore the world of literacy.  When she heard that I was a reading specialist, she began to ask questions about her child’s progress.  We talked about what he was able to do and I provided suggestions for the next steps in his literacy development.

After our conversation, I reflected on the impact of that talk.  I empowered her with knowledge to best teach her son the literacy concepts he needed.  Instead of directing her to multiple sources of information or suggesting that she purchase expensive pre-packaged literacy programs, I just gave her advice. From that advice she could pick and choose what would best work for her child.              My overall vision of Baby Reads is to deliver a comprehensive resource for families who are trying to effectively integrate literacy practices into their children’s lives.  Baby Reads defines terms, suggests strategies, and provides the basic tools families need to help their babies develop literacy skills.

I continued to build the Baby Reads dynasty with story books, phonics focus and beginning writing resources. All are available in the store.
